Navigating the System
The Sidebar
The sidebar on the left side of the screen is your main navigation menu. It is organised into groups such as Academic, Finance, Communication, and Reports.
- Only the sections you have permission to access are shown.
- Click the ◀ arrow at the top of the sidebar to collapse it to icons only — useful on smaller screens.
- Click ▶ to expand it again.
The Topbar
The topbar at the top of every page shows:
- The current page title on the left.
- Your profile name and role on the right — click it to log out or change your password.
- A dark/light mode toggle (moon/sun icon).
Breadcrumbs
On most pages you will see breadcrumbs below the topbar (e.g. Students › Add Student) so you always know where you are.
Tables and Lists
Most pages that show lists of records include:
- A search box to filter records by name, number, or other fields.
- Column headers you can click to sort.
- Pagination at the bottom to move between pages.
- An Actions column with buttons to view, edit, or delete each record.
Forms
When adding or editing a record:
- Fill in all required fields (marked with *).
- Click Save or Submit to save your changes.
- Click Cancel to discard changes and go back.
A green success banner appears at the top of the page when changes are saved successfully.
Tips
- Use the browser back button or the breadcrumbs to go back — avoid closing the tab.
- Most delete actions ask for confirmation before anything is removed.
- If you see a red error banner, read the message — it usually tells you exactly what needs to be corrected.
